Voice of Our JLPT Course Students

"The courses give you a sense of making steady progress."

I have really enjoyed this (and other) Chika Sensei's courses. They provide nice balance between grammar with multiple examples, listening, reading, and vocabulary building, and each unit has a brief test to check your understanding, with timely feedback from the teacher. The content is broken down to small lessons that can be completed at the end of a busy day and give you a sense of making steady progress. I look forward to continuing with the next levels of the JLPT with Chika sensei in the future!

"With her guidance I feel confident and motivated."

I cannot recommend this course enough. Chika Sensei’s teaching method and well curated curriculum perfectly fit in busy schedules, and ensures that you build your Japanese language skills incrementally and consistently. I make a lot of mistakes but she always corrects them very kindly, and even my sentences make no sense, she understands what I was trying to say. With her guidance I feel confident and motivated. Thank you sensei!

"I look forward to the daily bite-sized lessons which keeps me motivated to study yet does not overwhelm me"

I’m so glad I stumbled upon Chika sensei’s JLPT N4 All-in-One Course. I have plans to take the JLPT N4 exam in the near future and this course provides a clear and structured way to studying for it. I’m one month into the course and so far it has been great. I look forward to the daily bite-sized lessons which keeps me motivated to study yet does not overwhelm me. Initially I was apprehensive about taking a course without face-to-face lessons but this is no longer a concern with Chika sensei’s prompt and clear replies on homework and on any questions that I have. Also, I am very appreciative of Chika sensei’s long lectures where more difficult grammars are discussed in detail. These videos have helped me greatly. From these long lectures, I can tell that Chika sensei is experienced at teaching Japanese, passionate about her work and very patient with her students. These days, I’m excited to check my inbox to see Chika sensei’s reply and new lesson of the day! 🙂 ちか先生、これまでありがとうございました! 私はこれからもっと頑張ります!

"She works hard to make sure you get the most out of the exercises"

I have been trying to learn Japanese by myself for a couple of years now but I was not progressing very well.

After travelling to Japan earlier this year, I realised that I could not really speak or understand Japanese. That's when I decided to enroll in a "proper" course.

I had been receiving Chika sensei free daily emails for a while and thought she was good at explaining the grammar and the vocabulary.

I enrolled in the JLPTN5 course and I really like it. The daily lessons are short and the exercises are relevant.

The best part is receiving the daily email from Chika sensei with the correction. She works hard to make sure you get the most out of the exercises.

I also like the fact that you can look at other students responses and Chika sensei corrections. I learn a lot from that too.

I would like to enroll in the conversation course but I think I will wait until I finish the JLPTN5 course. I am also already thinking of enrolling in the JLPTN4 course after this course.

ちかせんせい、ありがとうございます。👌

"A must for those of you out there that struggle to keep up. "

I've been to different program or forms of learning japanese language, and as the pandemic kicks in I then started to try out online learning. And I bumped into this course as I was searching online for easy and effective ways of learning, The concept of learnig daily for at least 10mins is one thing that interest me, as I'm so busy and couldn't sit in a class for an hour or so.... I like the style of being task to do a simple homework everyday and being checked by the teacher everyday too., somehow it keeps my motivation to continue learning. And even though I miss a day or two I get constant reminder through email for the lesson that I should be taking up, that's really helpful.

I can definitely say that this platform helps me a lot. A must for those of you out there that struggle to keep up. In addition the way the lesson are formated is very well thought. Kudo to you Chika Sensei.

"All of this is provided by Chika Sensei."

Trying to learn a new language is always a difficult challenge. Especially from eastern for us, westerner. It has to be progressive, clearly sequenced, carried out on daily bases with back and forth on your work. And with a good teacher and some interaction. All of this is provided by Chika Sensei. That is not an easy journey but so interesting, do it in a good company !

"Love the classes with Chika sensei."

I have joined the class during in the pandemic started from 2021. I am so happy learning the Japanese from online class, I can study the Japanese anywhere and anytime, it is very convenience for me, wherever I am. Chika sensei gave us many idea for studying the Japanese class when I email her to ask her the question. She is very kind and nice to everyone. In the N4, she will provide us the extra materials in some of the lessons, and she will remind us using te-form and ta-form.

Even now, I always confuse the が、に、or etc, she always correct our sentences. Love the classes with Chika sensei.

"My Japanese has significantly improved after only one month."

The lessons and exercises are in manageable pace and Chika sensei herself is very attentive! My Japanese has significantly improved after only one month. I would recommend anyone to take her lessons :)

"I skip much less than when I was studying on my own."

I'm not going to take the JLPT right away, but I started this course to prepare for the future.

Although the course is designed for the JLPT exam, it's also great for learning Japanese from the basics. (I'm studying N5)

It's like learning basic Japanese from a language class, but without the pressure of going to school.

There are also videos for listening and vocabulary quizzes, these are interesting and change every day. When I get the email from my teacher, it’s like a reminder to start class, so I skip much less than when I was studying on my own.

I was just studying sort of gradually, as a hobby, but now I've gained a lot of confidence and I'm thinking of taking the next JLPT.

"I’m still impressed by the competence and the hard work of the teacher"

I’ve been studying Japanese for many years, with long pauses in between. My recent goal is to be able to read books in Japanese and be able to watch lectures in Japanese about my favorite art topics. I tried different courses and platforms, I learned Kanji stand alone thinking that they would have helped to guess the meaning of Japanese sentences, but with my beginner grammar knowledge I soon found out that I couldn’t understand even the manga for kids. I’ve been told I should reach the N3 level of JPLT to be able to start understanding those. So I googled for the best grammar courses and one of those was Chika Sensei. Compared to other online courses where you’re left to your own devices, this one was not cheap, but the idea to have a teacher following your progresses or to whom ask questions has been my deciding factor. And I’m glad I did. I bought first the N4 course, thinking that my basic grammar and vocabulary was covering the N5, but I soon found out that N4 was too difficult for me and I didn’t know a few grammar rules, so after a while I decided to start from square one with the N5 course, as a refresher and a mean to fill my gaps for grammar. It’s actually challenging in a good way, it helps me writing sentences thinking in Japanese, looking for words I was missing. It gives me a lot of insights on the particle usage I wasn’t aware of, a sort of more advanced usage compared to the basic one I read in the usual grammar books so far. Even though the lessons are 10 minutes long, there are many other activities to go through as soon as possible, such as learning vocabulary (and there is a nice companion platform to quiz you on that, that it’s not the usual SRS flashcard – by the way, it’s one of the possibilities if needed), learning Kanji and so forth. There are different kind of lessons that follows a program and arriving every day as an email: grammar, listening, reading and monthly videos. The dialogues and the sentences are very up to date with modern life, common situations, and not resembling the ones on textbooks.

I’m still impressed by the competence and the hard work of the teacher who corrects the homework and asks questions to follow up.

In the comments for every lesson there are other students’ homework, questions and corrections that I personally found very useful to learn something new or be aware of mistakes that can happen.

Overall I would recommend this course to advanced beginners or beginners who are motivated to work on learning hiragana and katakana as the first step.
