How to make:
Verb plain style (non-past) + と
i-adj + と
na-adj / noun + だ + と

How to use:
Condition (A) と, Constant Result (B)
= When A happens, the result is always B.
ドアの前(まえ)に立(た)つと、ドアが開(あ)く。
If/When you stand in front of the door, the door [always] opens.
そこを右(みぎ)にまがると、えきがある。
If/When you turn right there, there is [always] a station.
おさけを飲(の)むと、顔(かお)が赤(あか)くなる。
If/When I drink alcohol, I [always] get red in the face.
と is used for objective descriptions like natural phenomena, machine operations, giving directions, etc.
Quick difference:
と
= when A happens, B always/naturally happens.
ば
= a general “if” form, but it has more usage restrictions than たら.
